Portal: Brown's Paxson Wojcik discusses his portal recruitment

The portal season is underway and an All-Ivy League selection is among one the top-available prospects currently to enter the busy transfer portal.

Paxson Wojcik averaged 14.9 points, 7.2 boards, and 3.2 assists over 27 games for Brown this season. The 6-foot-4 guard out of La Lumiere School started his collegiate career at Loyola Chicago where he was a part of their final-four team.

Wojcik, if not eliminated early in Ivy’s, was one game away from playing in 100 college games. The graduate transfer saw his numbers bolster every single season hence why he’s in a position to be one of the top-available graduate transfers.

Wojcik had made it known he’d be on the move due to the obvious Ivy League grad transfer rule. He officially entered the portal last week and was hearing from schools in no time.

He sat down with Stockrisers.com to discuss his portal recruitment and what type of fit he’s looking for.

Which schools have you heard from since entering the portal?

“I’ve heard from a ton of schools at all different levels. I feel like I’ve been on the phone all day the past few days. Nebraska, SMU, South Carolina, Auburn, Arkansas, Vanderbilt, California, Cincinnati, Santa Clara, Murray State, Vermont, Rhode Island, San Francisco.”

Talk to any head coaches just yet?

“I’ve been in communication with head coaches at South Carolina, Butler, Nebraska, Arkansas, Vermont, and more.”

What are you looking for in a school?

“I’m looking for a place where I can contribute to winning a conference championship and getting a bid to the NCAA tournament. I want to be a part of a winning culture and be around like-minded individuals.”

How long will you let the process play out?

“I want to take my time. I’m in no rush and want to build some relationships and eventually take a couple of visits before I ultimately decide.”
