Top-50 senior Joshua Tyson breaks down his finalists, commit timeline
After a pivotal junior season at Lakota West, Joshua Tyson is taking the next step in his development.
The talented guard announced his intentions to transfer to national powerhouse La Lumiere, where he will have the opportunity to compete against some of the top talent in the country while continuing to develop his game on a national stage.
Tyson put together an impressive junior campaign at Lakota West, averaging nearly 17 points, four rebounds, four assists, and two steals per game. His all-around production helped elevate his profile and put him firmly on the radar of several high-major programs.
Now, with his recruitment nearing its final stages, Tyson has narrowed his list to six schools: Xavier, Ohio State, Virginia Tech, Cincinnati, Michigan State, and Clemson.
The first official visit of the process is already in the books, as Tyson recently visited Xavier on July 21. He is scheduled to continue his official-visit tour throughout the coming weeks.
His current visit schedule includes:
- Ohio State: August 28
- Virginia Tech: September 5
- Cincinnati: September 19
- Michigan State: TBD
- Clemson: TBD
With five more visits either scheduled or still to be determined, Tyson has plenty of opportunities to evaluate each program before making his decision.
The move to La Lumiere should provide Tyson with another valuable platform to showcase his abilities against elite competition. As his recruitment approaches its conclusion, the combination of his production at Lakota West, continued development at La Lumiere, and interest from six high-major programs makes Tyson one of the prospects to watch closely.
Tyson is shooting for a October 1st commitment timeline. He discussed his finalists with Stockrisers.com.
Xavier: “Coach Pitino is an amazing guy and he likes to get the ball out and push it. I like his style of play and he’s a proven winner.”
Ohio State: “Coach Diebler has been in contact for the longest time and has been with me for many steps of the way.”
Virginia Tech: “Coach Frazier from VT has been recruiting me since he was at West Virginia and he was the first coach to give me a Power 4 offer.”
Cincinnati: “Calhoun is a great coach with a winning background at Utah State. He plays fast and I like to play fast as well.”
Michigan State: “Tom Izzo is a living legend and playing under him would be crazy, and he’s gotten plenty of guards to the league.”
Clemson: “Coach Morgan was at UC before his new hire at Clemson. He’s been recruiting me for a long time and playing ACC hoops at a school like Clemson would be nice.”
