In July, we wrote about The Masters School (NY) forward Damian Mojica. The 6-foot-8 forward had a breakout summer and has continued to establish himself as a fast-rising recruit in the 2028 class.

Mojica averaged 15.1 points and 7.5 rebounds per game this summer with the PSA Cardinals. He was also a standout performer at the annual NEPSAC showcase, averaging 21 points per game.

In addition to his scoring and rebounding production, Mojica showcased his playmaking ability, averaging 4.5 assists per game across EYBL play and the NEPSAC showcase.

Currently ranked as the top-rated player in New York State, Mojica has caught the attention of several high-major programs and is in the midst of a recruiting breakout.

Stockrisers.com has reported that a plethora of programs have been tracking Mojica during the current fall live period. Purdue head coach Matt Painter spent time with Mojica and extended a scholarship offer, while Minnesota and Stanford have also recently offered. Several other programs have entered the mix as his recruitment continues to gain momentum.

Mojica discussed his recruitment this week with Stockrisers.com.

Which schools are heavily involved?

”Purdue, Syracuse, Oklahoma State, Minnesota, Notre Dame, Virginia Tech, and Creighton.”

Any new schools in the mix?

”I’ve heard from UConn, VCU, and Seton Hall.”

Thoughts on Coach Painter and Purdue?

”He’s awesome. He’s been super supportive to my growth. He showed up to my very first open gym in September and is planning on coming back in mid-October. Purdue is a great program and definitely somewhere I can see myself.”

How about Syracuse?

”I like Syracuse a lot also. Coach Lee has been at my open gym and we talk often on my development. I definitely could see myself there and would like to take a visit at some point.”

Oklahoma State?

”My relationship with Coach Valentine is great. He came to my open gym in September. He’s talked to Coach Lutz and he’s planning on coming to an open gym soon.”

Notre Dame?

“I have a great relationship with Coach Whitted. He’s been at my open gym as well. We’ve kept in contact and he’s been super supportive towards my development.”

Minnesota?

”Me and Coach Williams have a great relationship and I’m looking forward to growing closer with Coach Medved. Minnesota has a great program and is a place I can definitely see myself in the future.”

”I think Creighton is a great program. Coach Edwards came to my open gym in the fall. I’m looking forward to continuing to talk to them and I can definitely see myself there in the future.”

How are you looking to improve your game?

”Areas that I’m looking to improve in my game are my three-point shooting and my perimeter defense.”

Goals for this season?

”Some goals this season are to win the regular season, postseason, NEPSAC championships. Some more personal goals that I have are winning Gatorade Player of the year and NEPSAC player of the year.”

Visits?

”As of now I have no visits scheduled, but I am looking at a couple of schools to visit.”
