With the 2023 class nearly signed and complete, we take a look into the future of this year’s junior class. The 2024 class contains a ton of high-level prospects and the future of prep school basketball is also looking bright.

One of those prep schools got better this offseason, and they hail in Arizona.

Arizona Compass Prep got better when Top-50 junior and Miami native Marcus Allen opted to leave Norland, where he was quite successful to begin his high school career. The 6-foot-7 wing had put up very solid numbers during his sophomore campaign: 18.5 points, 7.5 boards, and nearly notched a steal and block per game as well.

Compass Prep fancies players like Allen and now he has found a nice spot with AZ Compass Prep.

His stellar play has led him to become a hot commodity amongst prospects in his class, especially a priority amongst the players in his position. Hence the reason high-level schools across different conferences and markets are going after the young, polished junior prospect.

I wanted to know more about his recruitment, and he didn’t shy away from giving answers in his one-on-one interview with Stockrisers.com.

Ladies, and gents, Marcus Allen.

Which schools are heavily involved?

“Arkansas, Michigan, Mizzou, Florida State, Miami, Stanford, Ohio State, Villanova, Texas A&M, Georgia, UCF, Arizona State, Cincinnati, and South Carolina.”

Any newer schools?

“Xavier and Virginia.”

What about Michigan and your thoughts on Coach Juwan Howard?

“Michigan’s culture is big. The fan base is amazing, and it’s actually crazy because as someone from Miami, I used to watch Coach Howard play for the Heat so it’s unbelievable that he’s now recruiting me.”

What about Florida State, and what are your thoughts, obviously a slow start for them.

“Coach Hamilton is a wonderful coach. Despite the team’s slow start, I know the coaching staff and team are gonna turn things around for sure.”

How about Arkansas’ pursuit of you, Coach Muss?

“Arkansas is a great school, the coaching staff is also filled with great people. Coach Muss checks on me almost every day and he’s always involved.”

What schools do you want to visit?

“I mean I can only take so many so I would just have to sit down with my mother and really break down each school and see which ones are the best to visit for me.”

How would you best break down your game?

“My game is very simple. I thrive on the defensive end and I feel like my defense always helps open up my offense. So, I would say I’m a good two-way player.”
