Hillcrest Prep in Arizona has been flowing with high-level prospects over the last few seasons. Each year they lure in multiple prospects with pro upside and high ceilings, this season? It’s nothing different.

2024’s Jason Asemota announced he’d be attending Hillcrest Prep after a transfer from the also always loaded Brewster Academy. The 6-foot-9 wing has had a superb past few months and it started with his transfer.

When it comes to Asemota, you’re going to get an impactful player on both ends of the floor. With great size and him being a plus athlete, it’s extremely impressive to see what Asemota is able to do when on the floor. With that being said, he’s expected to make even more of a leap this year and has already shown growth since his transfer to Hillcrest Prep.

Asemota has also been considering a possible move into the 2023 class but remains focused on the season and will continue to just explore his options. In addition, Oregon, Auburn, and UConn are three programs that Asemota has shown a desire to visit, and will likely aim to take even more visits as the scholarship offers to continue to roll through.

They have indeed continued to roll through, as Asemota has landed offers from both Kansas and Texas Tech over the last ten days. In addition, Oregon continues to bolster their interest and sent an assistant in to watch him recently.

So, we want to hear from Asemota and we will. He caught up with Stockrisers.com to talk about his early recruitment along with brief quotes on his game.

Which schools are heavily involved?

“Kansas, Oklahoma State, Texas Tech, Oregon, Ohio State, and UNLV.”

Are any new schools in the mix?

“UCLA, Texas, UConn.”

First impressions on Ohio State?

“I Love Ohio State, they believe in my talents and coach and I have a strong connection, so they’re definitely one of the schools on top of my list.”

Arizona State?

“ASU loves me as well, especially Jermaine Kimbrough, and they’re a very respected program.”

What’s Kansas pitching?

“They want me to possibly come in as a 2023 and they don’t really have any commits, so they’d love to take me a year early.”

Discuss that, is 2023 still an option for you?

“Yes.”

Texas Tech, thoughts on them?

“They love my game, they’ve been watching me since the start of the year. The relationship is great and I’ll love to visit soon.

How do you feel your season has been going?

“It’s going exactly how it was planned, I think coming into this season I had a lot to prove and I did just that.”
