Four-star junior Christian Watson adds new offers, talks recruitment

Christian Watson is ranked as a three-star by many outlets but is likely to see that change this summer. The Washington, DC native is a 6-foot-6, 192-pound guard, running with DC Premier this summer on the Under Armour circuit and is looking to break out prior to the start of his junior season.

A Top-5 player in his state, Watson competes in one of the most competitive basketball districts and regions in the country and has proven he could belong. Despite his ranking, Watson in my eyes can easily be viewed as a four-star prospect. Stockrisers.com doesn’t have official rankings for various reasons, but, I personally view him as a high-level prospect, and his recruitment shows.

Watson has racked up all kinds of offers.

Varying from the Big Ten to the A10, all the way to the Big East, Watson is earning himself scholarship offers from programs all over the country and I presume the influx of programs will only increase after the live period events.

So, let’s learn more about this growing recruit as Watson took the time during his live period action to discuss his recruitment with Stockrisers.com.

Which programs would you say are heavily involved in your recruitment?

“Schools like Xavier, Georgetown, Providence, Rutgers, Miami, Marquette, Penn State, and Cincinnati are heavily involved in my recruitment.”

Any newer schools recently involved?

“Some new schools that are now showing interest are UConn, Notre Dame, Florida, and Virginia.”

Discuss Georgetown, your thoughts, after your unofficial visit?

“Georgetown has a great program and a great fast pace type playing style with a Hall of Fame coach that knows what it takes to get to the next level. They see me coming in and being a huge factor as a freshman.”

Your first official visit was to Xavier, what are your thoughts on them?

“Coach Steele and his staff at Xavier are great people. They said that I’m a high priority for them and that they can see me coming in as a freshman making a huge impact. They have a fast pace NBA-type offense which I think I can exceed because of the way I play.”

Your newest offer just came from Seton Hall, thoughts?

“Seton Hall I just got the offer yesterday so I don’t really have a close connection with them yet but they said I’m a high priority for them and they love my game.”

Dropping any lists?

“I will be narrowing down my list very soon, I have no set date for that but it’s going to be soon.”

Commitment timeline?

“I'm thinking about committing by the end of this summer so late July, early August.”
