UConn has been super impressive since re-entering the Big East this season. Behind the strong play of potential lottery pick James Bouknight and emergence from Tyler Polley, the Huskies have seen a very nice start of the season despite a recent shoulder surgery for Bouknight.

Why is UConn in great hands right now? Not only have they been impressive off the floor but they have been recruiting their butts off. They have brought in several high-level recruits and now once again, they land another priority.

New Jersey native and four-star prospect Corey Floyd Jr. tells Stockrisers.com that he is taking his talents to the University of Connecticut. The Roselle Catholic shooting guard averaged 11 points per game last season on a loaded squad for the New Jersey program. He stands at 6-foot-4 and is a very physical guard who excels in the midrange and on the drive but is a capable shooter.

Floyd Jr. is a major pickup for the Huskies and he broke down his college decision with Stockrisers.com.

Why the Huskies for Corey Floyd Jr?

“I will be committing to the University of Connecticut. Overall UConn was just the best fit for me on and off the court. They play a lot through their guards and there have been a number of successful guards to come out of that program and I’m just looking to fill those shoes.”

When did you know you wanted to be a Husky?

“I knew I was going to commit to UConn after my family and I just sat down and took the time out to think about it all. UConn just stood out to me and I wouldn’t want to go anywhere else.”

How will your game improve at the University of Connecticut?

“I think by being at UConn I’ll be able to improve my overall game. Playing out of a lot of pick and rolls, and playing downhill will just sharpen my decisions and make me an even better playmaker.”

Who do you plan on recruiting to join your 2022 class?

“As of right now, the player in my class I’m focused on is Donovan Clingan. He’s a great player and I think he would fit perfectly at UConn.”

Did Coach Hurley and the staff compare you to anyone?

“James Bouknight.”
