Four-star junior Ramel Lloyd Jr. burst onto the scene as a national recruit during his strong sophomore season with Taft (CA.) which ended prior to the COVID-19 pandemic.

He’s made an insane rise in all rankings and is seen as a unanimous Top-70 recruit across all outlets.

Lloyd Jr is a 6-foot-6 prospect who now currently attends Rancho Christian High School. Among the notable alumni is USC’s Evan Mobley, who played at RCHS last year and is now at USC where he will likely be a one-and-done and a lottery pick next year.

Stockrisers.com had the chance to talk with Lloyd Jr. and we touched upon topics such as his recruitment and multiple topics amongst that one topic.

What schools are still in the mix?

Lloyd: “There are so many schools in the mix right now, about 20 of them being considered right now for my list cut.”

Who’s the newest school to enter the mix?

Lloyd: “Nebraska.”

Thoughts on them?

Lloyd: “Nebraska has a great coaching staff and are looking to build, Coach [Fred] Hoiberg also has a lot of NBA experience and knows what it takes to get there which is very intriguing to me. The coaching staff wants me to come in and have an immediate impact and continue to help build the program.”

How about a program like Arizona, who’s also heavily involved?

Lloyd: “Arizona is a big-time program which is really close to home. I’ve built a relationship with the staff and Coach [Sean] Miller since sophomore year when I took an unofficial visit. They have had an abundance of big guards like myself in Trier, Rawle, and Kadeem Allen. Also, it would be great to stay close to home and play in the Pac-12.”

You’ve also talked with Arkansas a lot and zoom with them soon, thoughts?

Lloyd: “I love the Arkansas staff and fan base, they are a big-time program in the SEC that plays a positionless five-out offense that I feel I can strive in at my position. Coach Muss is also a coach with a lot of NBA ties.”

You zoom with them, correct?

Lloyd: “Yes, I zoom with them [Arkansas] this week.” *He also zoomed with Illinois last week*

As far as this possible list cut you mentioned, when should we expect that?

Lloyd: “I’ll cut my list to nine, most likely around Christmas, the timetable will be announced soon.”

What about a commitment, Ramel?

Lloyd: “There is no timetable on my commitment. I definitely won’t commit until after my list cut at nine. That will be my one and only list cut before my commitment.”
