Breaking: Nebraska lands five-star Bryce McGowens
What a whirlwind it has been for five-star senior Bryce McGowens.
He committed to Florida State earlier this year and then decided to explore his options. He had cut his list down to Michigan, LSU, Georgia, Nebraska, or a possible re-commitment to the Seminoles. Ultimately, he opted to cut down and seriously choose between Georgia and Nebraska.
Today, he tells Stockrisers.com that he will pledge and sign his commitment to Nebraska. McGowens becomes the program's highest-rated recruit of all-time. Off the bat, I asked McGowens last night what that means to him to be the highest-rated recruit in program history, his answer?
“Going to a place like Nebraska where they haven’t attracted guys like me is something I take a lot of pride in because I want to be the first of many from this point forward. I’m bringing a different vibe to Nebraska and can’t wait to make my mark by bringing a championship to Lincoln.”
Both Fred Hoiberg and Matt Abdelmassih were the recruiters in McGowens’ commitment. Both of whom will likely speak on their newest five-star after he inks his NLI this evening.
Why Nebraska?
McGowens: “I chose Nebraska because of how much trust I have in the program and the coaching staff. Coach Hoiberg has a proven track record of getting guys ready and help to get them to the NBA. Also having the opportunity to play with my older brother is a once in a lifetime opportunity.”
What does it mean to you to team-up with your brother, Trey?
McGowens: “Something I never imagined, that I could be standing side-by-side with my big brother and going to battle with him. He’s always someone I looked up to as a role model. It’s something I do not take for granted and can’t wait to be there with him.”
