Coronavirus has caused tons of shifts in the sports world, especially those on the recruiting sides of things. No visits, no summer ball, etc. That has impacted the high school career of four-star junior Jeremy Sochan

The La Lumiere prospect entered the national powerhouse last fall and immediately shined both within the program and in the FIBA ranks. At the FIBA U16 championships, he averaged 16 points and nine rebounds, which landed him MVP and the Division B title.

While attending La Lu, it gave college coaches an opportunity to get a better look at the highly-touted prospect from Europe the chance to be seen by some of the best college coaches in the entire country, but now, Sochan will leave the states once again while keeping his college eligibility.

“As the pandemic complicated situation with travel, schools, and basketball, we discussed it as a family and decided it's safer for me to stay in Europe, finish high school and use the year to really push my development,” Sochan told Stockrisers.com.

Sochan will attend the School of Ulm in Germany where he will play for the academy’s B team which will allow him to keep his college eligibility, which as of now, is the route he is leaning towards more.

“It's a place I visited two years ago and felt really good about, and the coaches have kept in touch with me since,” Sochan said.

As far as college goes, Sochan says ‘I've been focused on working out and resolving my situation for next year, but continue to be in regular contact with Baylor, Florida State, Creighton, Virginia, Vanderbilt, Kansas, Arizona, Xavier’ while also speaking to some new programs in which he didn’t mention just yet.

Obviously, with the pandemic it has put visit plans on hold for prospects across America, including Sochan who has visited all of his schools virtually.

He most recently took a virtual tour with Baylor’s Scott Drew and his staff on Monday afternoon and it went well, according to Sochan. The majority of the virtual campus stuff came at the beginning of the pandemic, allowing him more time to sit down and have a full look at the schools and possibly change his timeline.

As the months go by, Sochan will continue to evaluate his options but as of now he says that he’s fully intent on attending college but things can really change at any moment, especially during a national pandemic.
