Plainfield (NJ) guard and PSA Cardinals star Micah Gordon started his summer right, reeling in Pangos All-American camp’s Co-MVP this past weekend.
The 6-foot-1 guard is proving to be one of the most explosive and skilled guards in his class and continues to showcase his elite ability every single week.
Whether it was his Pangos performance or his terrific EYBL Session III (18.8 points, six assists, four boards), Gordon continues to grab the attention of programs nationally and is primed to keep rising this summer.
I think his change-of-speed ability, his craftiness as a floor general, and his ability to score in a variety of ways are the reasons he is so sought after and continues to generate new interest throughout his recruitment.
Gordon has a plethora of programs involved in his recruitment, he told Stockrisers.com.
West Virginia, VCU, Creighton, Providence, Virginia Tech, Virginia, Michigan State, Auburn, Northwestern, Rutgers, and Maryland are among the programs in the mix, with many newer programs showing interest.
“[West Virginia & VCU] are schools I took an unofficial for, but I want to go back for an official visit,” Gordon told Stockrisers.com.
He spoke on both of those programs:
West Virginia: ”I like West Virginia. Paying attention to them last year really opened my eyes to how tough I need to be and how much stronger I need to be. They play fast, play defense, and I think the coaching staff is really good.”
VCU: ”Winning program. They won the A10 last year and then beat North Carolina in the tournament. Talented school, and they play hard, and play fast in transition.”
The newest schools to reach out to Gordon are Michigan State, Northwestern, Rutgers, UCLA, and Virginia. His recruitment continues to grow as he stands out at EYBL and in events like Pangos.
One of his most recent offers came from Maryland, and he had this to say on the Terps:
“Coach Buzz [Williams] lets his guards go to work, and I think for a guard to be free is the best [play] style. Physical, and you have to play hard at all times.”
Gordon says he continues to speak with a number of coaches and will continue to weigh his recruitment as he maintains his strong play.
