Dynamic 6-foot-8 big man Donovan Davis has asserted himself as one of the best rebounders in the 2027 class and is blossoming this season so far at Freedom High School (WI).

Davis is looking to carry the momentum from his sophomore season and his EYBL season into his junior year, fresh off an 18-point, 18-rebound performance this past week.

His numbers in his sophomore campaign: 22.5 points, 12 boards, four assists, and shot 37% from three. So far at the start of this season, he’s jumped to nearly 26.5 points per game and the same 12 rebound mark from last year.

Davis’ efficiency continues to be a huge landmark in his game, and he was one of the leaders in efficiency this summer on the EYBL circuit.

Jumping into his recruitment, he continues to be pursued by a variety of programs. He has had visits to Marquette, Iowa, and Nebraska, and plans to take more visits as the college season continues.

He tells Stockrisers.com he will take another Marquette visit, additional visits to Wisconsin and Iowa State as well. He’s also planning Iowa and Stanford.

In addition, he says the newest schools to reach out are Indiana, Alabama, and Stanford.

Davis gave some thoughts on the programs in the mix, and also where his game is at so far this season.

Marquette: “It [visit] was good, it was a really good atmosphere, even though they lost, it was still good to see the turnout and see how much people care. What they’re pitching to me is to play as a wing and four and make an impact right away.”
Iowa: “They’re pitching to me that I could play as a hybrid big and be able to create a lot of space on offense and get to my spots.”
Iowa State: “They’ve also been telling me that I would be able to make an impact right away and play the four or be a wing player.”
Wisconsin: “They’ve been saying that I would be able to play wing or the big and be able to stay close to home.”
Nebraska: “They would also have me come in as a three or four and be able to create my own shot in the spacing that they have on offense.”

Davis also added some thoughts on his game and where things stand this season in terms of how he’s played, but also where he would like to improve.

“I think I’ve improved as a ball-handler and be able to be comfortable with it. I think my shooting has gotten better, but I’m still working on that as well.”
