Kevin Wheatley Jr.'s recruitment has taken off over the past few months.
The Brewster Academy and PSA Cardinals wing has emerged as one of the fastest-rising prospects in the 2028 class after an impressive stretch on the national stage. The 6-foot-6 standout turned heads at Top 100 Camp, earned an invitation to the USA Basketball Mini-Camp, and was among the top performers at Elite 100 Camp before carrying that momentum into the Nike EYBL circuit.
Wheatley Jr. opened play in Las Vegas with another strong performance, finishing with 21 points, five rebounds, and three steals while connecting on multiple three-pointers. His continued development as a versatile two-way wing has only strengthened his standing among college coaches and evaluators.
That growth has translated directly to his recruitment. During the June contact period, Wheatley Jr. heard from nearly 25 Division I programs. Alabama, Auburn, Boston College, BYU, Creighton, Georgia Tech, Notre Dame, Ole Miss, Providence, Syracuse, Texas, Villanova, and Xavier are among the schools actively involved, with more programs continuing to enter the mix.
As the summer progresses, Wheatley Jr. has consistently been mentioned among the standout performers on the grassroots circuit. With his combination of size, shot-making ability, defensive versatility, and continued production against high-level competition, it's no surprise his recruitment continues to gain momentum.

Have you taken any visits?
“No not yet. I’m definitely planning to after Peach Jam and into August.”
Which head coaches have you talked with?
“Utah and VCU. I’ve talked to a lot of associate head coaches.”
Thoughts on Auburn?
“Auburn is a great program. They’re definitely in my top schools.”
Syracuse?
“Same thing with Syracuse, great program.”
VCU?
“I actually think VCU is one of the best mid-major programs in the country.”
How would you best describe your game?
“Three-level scorer. I knock down the contested and open three. I get to my midrange pull-up well and I attack the rim. Also, I’m a high-energy defender and I rebound.”
