Ohio native Isaiah Mack-Russell asserted himself as one of 2027’s top scorers this summer with an impressive showing at Adidas USSB with Phenom United.
Mack-Russell, a 6-foot-4 guard and arguably one of Ohio’s top-rated prospects, averaged nearly 17 points per game in USSB action. His scoring totals are almost identical to what he averaged during his sophomore campaign.
This season, he is transferring and will suit up for Winston Woods, another big-time school in the state of Ohio. If he can reciprocate what he did just a season ago with his new school, they’ll be in good shape amongst teams in the state.
During the 2024-25 season at Toledo Central Catholic, Mack-Russell averaged 18.5 points per contest on an impressive 49% shooting percentage. His efficiency and field goal percentages have struck college coaches as impressive.
Mack-Russell gave us the rundown here at Stockrisers.com with the latest on his recruitment, including a scheduled unofficial visit to Cincinnati this month.
Which schools are heavily involved?
”Ohio State, Cincinnati, Virginia, Creighton, Xavier, Arizona State, Akron, Ohio, Bowling Green, Kent State, South Carolina, Toledo, and others.”
Thoughts on Ohio State, and how heavily are they recruiting you?
”My thoughts on them are that it’s going really well right now. They are heavily recruiting me. Calling me every week or texting me just making sure I’m good.”
How about Cincinnati?
”Cinci has been going good also. The coach over there has been really good to my family and me. Coach Morgan has been texting me and checking up on me to make sure I’m good.”
Creighton?
”Creighton has been good [also]. One of the players, Jamiya Neal, has been checking on me. The coaches make sure I’m doing well, also.”
Any visits being planned?
”Cinci this month.”
How would you best describe your game?
”Smooth. I play hard and want to compete. Three-level scorer and a two-way player.”
I discussed Mack-Russell’s scoring and his efficiency earlier in this piece, but worth noting that he has averaged nearly two steals and six rebounds per game over the last two seasons, bolstering his status as one of 2027’s more effective two-way guards.
His Cincinnati visit was scheduled for this week, but is being rescheduled to another date but will remain this month.
