Talking recruitment with five-star incoming junior Malachi Jordan
It has been a terrific year for five-star recruit of the 2027 class, Malachi Jordan.
The 6-foot-6 lockdown defender based out of Tennessee has made pit stops at several high-level events in 2025, including the USA Basketball mini-camp, the Nike Elite 100 camp, and Peach Jam. It has allowed him to showcase to collegiate coaches exactly why he is a five-star caliber prospect in his class.
Jordan was able to attract the attention of many coaches during this year’s contact period, hearing from over 15+ programs. Many of these programs would follow suit by watching Jordan at Peach Jam, where he had event averages of 10.5 points, 5.5 boards, and nearly three assists, but also affecting the game defensively and in ways that might not appear in the scorebook.
It is a huge plus that Jordan asserts himself as an elite defender, but also evident that he prides himself on both sides of the ball at a high rate. In a recent discussion with Stockrisers.com, Jordan labeled his comparison as Jimmy Butler, noting he’s a three-level scorer and a likable player, especially on the defensive end.
He attended Link Academy to begin this season, but ended up transferring to Christian Community School back in Tennessee, where he even collected a 40-point game. Jordan has now opted to go back to the prep route and recently announced he will be attending Dream City Christian in Arizona.
This junior year will be massive for Jordan, who has drawn interest from schools all over the country. He recently collected an Ohio State offer and also says the Buckeyes join Missouri and Tennessee as some of the schools that are in heavy pursuit.
The five-star gave a breakdown of his recruitment with Stockrisers.com.
Tennessee: “Of course, with it being a hometown school, they have a heavy interest in getting me down there on a visit and check in now and then.”
Missouri: “About the same things [as Tennessee]. Especially since they got my guy Scottie [Adkinson] committed, they’ve been pushing to get me there to see what they have.”
Ohio State: “About the same things again. We talk about my guy Amare Bynum being there as well.”
Jordan added that he is drawing new interest from Virginia, Arizona, and New Mexico State. You can expect plenty of more programs to continue to show active communication and interest as Jordan’s junior year is approaching.
