It’s no secret that the center position continues to grow due to the talent level and versatility of big men in this era. A prime example? John Marshall’s Latrell Allmond.

The 6-foot-8 standout out of Richmond, VA. has had an impressive last few months, continues to bolster his stock, and becomes a prime target early on in his recruiting process.

At Adidas 3SSB last month, he posted a stat line of 10 points, eight boards, and an astounding 2.5 blocks per game. Allmond not only proved his worth in the paint but also showed immense skill from behind the three-point line.

Allmond has been continuing his success into this live period where he’s most recently had a 20-point and 12-rebound outing, as he continues his rise in the 2026 class.

Stockrisers.com got to discuss Allmond’s recruitment with him this past weekend.

Which schools have reached out since the contact period started?

“LSU, VCU’s Ryan Odom, George Washington’s Coach Caputo, Providence’s Kim English, Oklahoma State, Michigan State, North Carolina, Louisville’s Pat Kelsey, NC State’s Kevin Keatts, Georgetown, Ohio State, Penn State, Villanova’s Kyle Neptune, Kansas, Texas A&M, Virginia.”

Which ones were heavily involved before the contact period?

“I would say Virginia, Louisville, VCU, and Penn State.”

What are your thoughts on Pat Kelsey and Louisville?

“I feel like it’s a great look, he gives the University of Louisville a new face like a fresh start, and Pat Kelsey seems like an amazing coach. I haven’t been around him yet but I’ve spoken to him on the phone and he sounds like he has a good soul and pure intentions. Great coach, a winner, and coaches hard, looking forward to building a relationship with him.”

North Carolina, thoughts?

“I think they’re a great program also, they have an amazing coach as well.”

How about your offer from Kansas, thoughts on that?

“The offer from Kansas was amazing. They have been keeping an eye on me and have shown interest since my freshman year, so it’s great to finally receive the offer from them.”

How serious were the early talks with Villanova and Kyle Neptune?

“Nothing too crazy right now, but hopefully after they see me play this weekend we can keep in contact more often.”
