Acaden Lewis blossoming into potential five-star recruit
For 6-foot-2, 170-pound combo guard Acaden Lewis, his story is nothing short of remarkable.
Going from barely being considered for a roster spot his freshman year of high school, to not even making a team in middle school, Lewis has now made the admirable leap of becoming a Top-50 prospect in the 2025 class after pretty much being told for years that he wasn’t capable.
His success began during his sophomore year after a transfer to Sidwell Friends in Washington D.C.
As a sophomore, he became an All-MAC player and was also a DCSAA champion, collecting himself a state title as well. His exceptional sophomore year carried into last summer and has now ultimately become the norm for Lewis, who is currently having a terrific start to his final AAU season.
In just 10 AAU games this season, he’s averaging 15 points, 3.5 boards, and 3.5 assists. Those numbers are pretty much a mirror image of what he did during his junior season this year at Sidwell, which led him to get named Gatorade Player of the Year for Washington D.C.
After a great weekend, I talked with Lewis and we discussed his recruitment and his game.
Here’s Acaden Lewis’ conversation with Stockrisers.com.
Which schools are heavily involved in your recruitment?
“Georgetown, Syracuse, Michigan, Virginia, and Maryland.”
Any newer schools?
“Louisville, Kansas, Ole Miss, Kentucky, West Virginia.”
What are your thoughts on your new Louisville offer and the coaching staff?
“Loved how Coach Kelsey was during his time at Charleston, he put a battery in his guys' back and lets his guards rock. I think he will surprise a couple of people with this job. Louisville despite the past couple of years is a legendary school with a lot of history which includes many great guards.”
How about Kentucky and have you talked with that staff yet?
“A school with an amazing legacy. They’ve been known to take the most elite guards and get them to the NBA. Also really strong that an alum like Coach Pope can come back and get the job. Interested to see how this first year goes, especially since he’s done a good job recruiting.”
Where do things stand with Georgetown?
“Still have a great relationship with them despite Coach Ivan leaving. Cooley and I spoke a lot and as I’ve said I have faith he will turn stuff around.”
Any plan as for visits or not yet?
“Haven’t really figured that out yet, I have a lot going on with EYBL and stuff. Going to get out to Michigan and Syracuse for sure at some point.”
How would you best describe your game for those who don’t know?
“A crafty lefty guard that looks to get his guys looks but can score in bunches, manipulating the defense, making quick instinctive plays, and inspiring my guys are three of my strong suits.”
How are you looking to improve this summer during AAU?
“Keep shooting the ball at a high clip, rebound more and get my hands on a couple more loose balls, be more efficient with dribbles, and prove this team can win.”
