Four-star junior Acaden Lewis updates his recruitment, talks game
It’s been another year of growth for Sidwell Friends star Acaden Lewis.
Recently, had his big breakout game at the National Hoop Festival, where he ended with 20 points and 13 rebounds. Lewis’ success dates back to last year though, when he put himself on the radar of coaches all around the country.
Lewis had a terrific Spring and summer with Team Durant on the EYBL circuit. He had multiple big-time performances, but none bigger than the one on June 25th where he scored or assisted on 43 of his team’s 51 points, finishing with 27 points, 7 assists, and six boards.
That game he shot it 12-22 from the field and some people said it was one of the top EYBL performances they saw all June.
Lewis had tons of success last year during his sophomore campaign. He would end up being All-MAC for Sidwell Friends. First-teamer won the DCSAA championship, then would end up defeating Wheeler in April for the State Champions Invitational.
He also put on a show recently at the Jordan Brand Holiday Classic. Lewis is a stat-sheet stuffer and would be the perfect glue guy for an influx of college programs.
We discussed his recruitment and his on-court improvements in his recent talk with Stockrisers.com.
Which schools are still heavily involved in your recruitment?
“Oregon, Florida State, Georgetown, Tennessee, Penn State, Virginia, Virginia Tech, Maryland, Georgia, Providence.”
With a great start to your season, have any new schools expressed interest?
“Georgia offered at the Chicago Holiday Classic and have maintained contact. Tennessee hit me up a week before Chicago then came out to Chicago to see me. No offer from them though.”
I know the season is going on, but anywhere you will officially or unofficially visit? Any tentative plans?
“Not any plans, don’t think I will during the season, definitely wanna get out to couple schools after the season.”
You’ve already officially visited Florida State, what are your thoughts on them and Coach Ham?
“It was my only official visit so far and they set the bar high, players had a good bond and good things to say about Coach Ham and the staff, good facilities, the campus was nice, and the vibe was good.”
How about Georgetown? Do you have a good relationship with Cooley? Thoughts on the Hoyas?
“Yes I do, I talk with Cooley and staff a lot and have been on campus and to a couple of games now. I have faith that he will turn the program around and back to its prosperous times.”
And how about Tennessee, I know there hasn’t even been an offer but what are they pitching to you?
“That they take care of their guards and they can see me in the system. Good school and I'm interested in our relationship growing.”
Wanted to ask how your game has developed this season.
“Been playing the point guard spot well but I'm still working on and developing the balance between creating for myself and others, and knowing when to pick spots. I can score in bunches but can also pass so it’s a balance you have to find.”
Have you improved in any areas that you worked on before the season?
“Yes, I've been more efficient shooting-wise so far, getting to the basket a good amount as well.”
