Top-50 incoming senior Rakease Passmore updates recruitment

July 10, 2023

Combine Academy’s Rakease Passmore remains one of the more under-appreciated players in the 2024 class.

The 6-foot-5, athletic wing, had a great final AAU summer. At Peach Jam, he recently had a 21-point outing, which included shooting 65% from the field. Passmore has been labeled as a pure athlete but is way more than that.

His recruitment has been a true reflection of his game, as many are in pursuit of the talented wing. In addition, this Spring and summer, Passmore has been able to show that he’s not just active at getting to the rim but he also has been able to evolve his shooting.

This past season, he wasn’t able to really get his three-point shooting going and only attempted eight threes, but I see that’s an area of his game where he will improve. College coaches agree that his offense is only just evolving and the future is bright for the incoming seniors.

Speaking of college coaches, Passmore was able to get with and give us a brief update on his recruitment. It includes a breakdown of multiple schools in pursuit, incl. new interest from the defending national champs.

Which schools are the heaviest involved?

“LSU, Indiana, Wake Forest, Creighton, Miami, and Arkansas.”

Any new schools?

“Arkansas offered yesterday. UConn and Ohio State have also been talking to me.”

What is Arkansas’ pitch?

“Arkansas’ pitch is that I really fit what they got going on over there. The way that they play and the speed they move as well. I think Arkansas is a really good place.”

Indiana, what is your relationship like with them and Coach Woodson?

“I think they have a great program and they were my first visit. I really love the experience out there and it’s a great program. Coach Woodson is my guy.”

And what is UConn saying now that they’re new?

“They have just been checking in and building a relationship with me.”

Are you planning any visits?

“I plan on taking LSU, Mississippi State, and Florida State. I just gotta get the dates.”

Commitment timeline?

“Not yet, but when It’s close to that time, I’ll announce it.”

And briefly break down your game.

“Getting to the rim, running in transition, and knocking down catch and shoot shots.”
