Top-50 2024 Isaiah Abraham talks recruitment, new UConn offer

Team Takeover didn’t get the result that they wanted at Peach Jam, falling one game short of a championship. Isaiah Abraham, a 6-foot-7 guard, isn’t dwelling on the loss and is ready to get back to that spot next year.

“I’m just ready to come back next year and win it this time,” Abraham said.

Abraham was a prospect who had already started jumping on the radars of scouts due to his length, his versatility, and him being an overall scoring threat, amongst other traits.

Peach Jam was just another opportunity for Abraham to showcase his abilities, and he did just that. He was scoring in a variety of ways, crashed the boards continuously, and I’d say he was a vital part of a team that was several buckets short of a Peach Jam title.

This high school season will be a big one for Abraham. Coming out of the DMV powerhouse Paul VI, who just produced an NBA draft pick in Trevor Keels, Abraham will have a primetime role for them this year as a junior.

His recruitment is already a reflection of what’s to come for the Warrington, VA native. He has several scholarship offers, including Kansas State, Maryland, Georgetown, Marquette, Howard, and most recently from UConn.

We discussed that very recruitment, and he chopped it up with Stockrisers.com.

Which schools have been involved in your recruitment recently?

“Georgetown, George Mason, Kansas State, Virginia, Xavier, Maryland, Virginia Tech, Pittsburgh, UConn, and Marquette have been pretty involved recently.”

What’s Kansas State’s pitch to you and thoughts on the coaching staff?

“They have been contacting me frequently and in a sense, coaching me from the sidelines on things I can improve on and pointing out things they see in my game that they really like.”

What’s Virginia’s pitch to you?

“They love the way that I play and my motor on the court. They are interested in me getting on campus and taking a visit. They are also contacting me frequently.”

A new school, UConn, what’s their pitch?

“They actually just offered me earlier. The assistant, Luke Murray, has had multiple conversations about how he liked my game and believed in me. They have talked about how I could fit into their culture and team. Also talking about how they handle and value development.”

Are you planning any visits?

“I’m thinking about taking visits to UConn and Virginia, but haven’t made any plans to yet.”

How would you best describe your game?

“I can use my length to guard any position on the court. I can knock down open shots and also create shots for myself off the dribble. I will also always bring energy and do whatever it takes to win a basketball game.”

Is there anything you’re looking to add to your game this season?

“My skills and playmaking on the perimeter. Also handling ball pressure.”
