Hillcrest Prep in Arizona has been flowing with high-level prospects over the last few seasons. Each year they lure in multiple prospects with pro upside and high ceilings, this season? It’s nothing different.

2024’s Jason Asemota announced he’d be attending Hillcrest Prep after a transfer from the also always loaded Brewster Academy. The 6-foot-9 wing has had a superb past few months and it started with his transfer.

When it comes to Asemota, you’re going to get an impactful player on both ends of the floor. With great size and him being a plus athlete, it’s extremely impressive to see what Asemota is able to do when on the floor. With that being said, he’s expected to make even more of a leap this year and has already shown growth since his transfer to Hillcrest Prep.

Asemota has also been considering a possible move into the 2023 class but remains focused on the season and will continue to just explore his options. In addition, Oregon, Auburn, and UConn are three programs that Asemota has shown a desire to visit, and will likely aim to take even more visits as the scholarship offers to continue to roll through.

So, we want to hear from Asemota and we will. He caught up with Stockrisers.com to talk about his early recruitment along with brief quotes on his game.

Which schools are heavily involved?

“Ohio State, Oklahoma State, Arizona State, and Auburn.”

Any new schools interested?

“UConn, Kansas, and Oregon.”

Discuss Auburn and your relationship with their staff.

“Bruce Pearl (he said loudly), a great guy and always talks to me with a lot of energy. He loves my style of play, and he said he could see me playing at his school while contributing a lot. Our connection is good.”

Is a visit to Auburn in the works?

“100 percent.”

How about Ohio State and how huge was that offer?

“Ohio State was huge. Coach Skinn is from where I’m from so that connection will always be strong.”

Arizona State? Now they’re close by, so how has their pursuit been?

“Very close by, love the coaching staff. I was actually on a visit the other week and the facilities and campus are very nice I like it a lot.”

Where else would you like to visit?

“UConn and Oregon, for sure.”

Update me on your game, where it’s at, and what you’re working on?

“I love shooting, I would call myself a good shooter. I can get to the rim at any point off the dribble which is also a part of my game and I can play above the rim grab rebounds. I want to work on my handles and defense for sure.”
