Last year’s recruiting cycle was an interesting one for Javonte Brown-Ferguson. The 2019 recruit out of Canada had cut his options to UConn, Kansas, and Texas A&M. Ultimately, he chose Danny Hurley and the Huskies, but Texas A&M wasn't too far behind.

Now? Brown-Ferguson entered the portal and tells Stockrisers.com that he will be transferring to Texas A&M. The 6-foot-11 230-pound big scored four points and grabbed two rebounds in two appearances for the Huskies this season.

He broke down his decision to commit to Texas A&M with Stockrisers.com

Why did you choose Texas A&M?

"I chose Texas A&M because I believe this place is the best place for development for me. This place would be the best option because I will be going against young hungry guys and seasoned veterans everyday. Through high school recruitment and this small little time we had built a strong relationship through recruiting especially me and Coach Buzz."

When did you know you’d end up in College Station?

"I knew Texas A&M was the destination a few days after my name went in the portal. After a couple conversations everyday with Buzz and the assistants. Players on the team and in the 2021 recruiting class also recruited me hard too."

How do you believe you fit with the Aggies?

"I think I would fit perfect with this team. They have all the right pieces they just don’t have that seven-foot shot-blocker  and post scorer. When I get to A&M I will bring energy, motor, defense, IQ, post scoring and plays above the rim."

What do you know about Buzz Williams?

"Through recruiting I know a lot about Buzz. I know hard work is his motto. That’s how he came up in the coaching world. Starting with sweeping floors and now making it to the SEC. I know he’s a passionate coach that wants to win and make people better but he’s also a great teacher."

Message to AggieLand?

"To the fans. I’m very excited to be here and get started. It’s a blessing that I got to transfer here and play in front of you guys and show you guys what I got. The next couple of years are going to be filled with fun and winning I know that for a fact."
