Five-star junior Cason Wallace updates his recruitment
During the COVID-19 pandemic, we've been able to discover some of the most underrated prospects in each class. You look at the 2022 class and how deep the talent level is. As for Cason Wallace not only is he underrated nationally but he also competes in one of the top-rated states in the country, Texas.
The 6-foot-3 guard out of Richardson High School is wanted by many programs for his ‘dog mentality’ and is arguably one of the top-rated prospects at his position for so many reasons.
Why? Because he gets the job done on both ends. Very consistent offensive player and is a very efficient scorer, will likely see a lot of double-teams entering his junior year. The most impressive skill in his game for me is easily his effort on the defensive end. He anticipates and reads offenses so well and college programs see that as an advantage if they could land him.
For his overall skillset and his upside, it has led to him being recruited by tons of suitors and he broke them down with Stockrisers.com.
Which programs are still involved at this point?
Wallace: “Texas Tech, Baylor, Kansas State, Oklahoma State, Oklahoma, Texas, Arkansas, and Purdue are schools that recruited me early and are still on me pretty hard.”
Any newer programs?
Wallace: “Arizona, Kansas, North Carolina, and Kentucky are the most recent school I’ve been hearing from. Still working hard to receive offers from both Kentucky and North Carolina.”
Discuss your blue blood interest.
Wallace: “Kentucky, Kansas, and North Carolina are the blue blood schools that I speak to right now but I’m confident In myself and my game that I know before this year is over I will have offers from all of the blue blood schools.”
Early in the process with Kentucky and UNC, what are conversations like early?
Wallace: “I talk to Coach Jai [Lucas] but we don’t really talk about where I would fit in in the program or anything like that yet and I talked to Coach Brad [Frederick] from UNC once for a little bit just getting to know each other a little bit.”
What is a school like Oklahoma pitching, you recently virtually met with them?
Wallace: “They have lots of talent and good players coming in from the class of 2021 and me coming in the year after that we would be a great team and have a lot of fun.”
What about a program like Texas Tech, in short, discuss them?
Wallace: “That staff they like dogs and I’m a dog.”
