First Look: 2023's Simeon Wilcher

August 21, 2020

The Wilcher family is loaded with talent. CJ Wilcher will play for one of the Big East's top programs in Xavier. Today, we highlight the little brother in Simeon Wilcher. The upside for him is major and his potential will continue to skyrocket. As a freshman, he stepped into a major minute role on one of the nation's top high school programs.

Wilcher is currently listed as the No. 8 prospect by ESPN, his highest ranking but no other outlets rank 2023 prospects just yet.

He does also already have an extremely impressive list of offers.

"The schools that have offered me are St.Johns, Wake Forest, UCLA, Oregon, Iowa, Illinois, Auburn, Georgia Tech, and Xavier," Wilcher told

Due to him being just a freshman, he isn't able to speak with college coaches for some time but says that they've had a dialogue with his father and coaches when it came time to offer him.

My first thought on Wilcher's game wasn't his offensive game but was his defense. When he and I discussed his game, he seemed to agree on my take:

"I take pride in defense first. I pride myself on stopping my opponent which can open up scoring opportunities for myself and my teammates."

Another excellent part of my conversation with Wilcher is discussing his basketball life. He made it an emphasis that he wakes up every single day ready to work and really improve his game. For a kid who is just a freshman, his work ethic is second-to-none.

Wilcher said "I just want to say everybody be safe during these tough times in society,"
