Breaking: Top-40 junior Jordan Longino chooses Villanova
Many schools have been impacted during the last few months due to COVID-19.
Some, not so much.
Villanova’s Jay Wright landed Top-30 junior Trey Patterson just one month ago, now, he lands yet another high-level priority for the Wildcats in Pennsylvania native, Jordan Longino who tells Stockrisers.com that he will commit to the former national champions.
“I just felt Nova fit me the best off and on the court. Nova has been recruiting me since I was a sophomore, so I have devolved a strong relationship with every coach on their staff,” he said.
The Germantown product won’t have to travel far to his future school as he lives pretty much just minutes away from Villanova’s campus and is pretty familiar with Jay Wright and his program.
“Coach Wright is one of a kind coach to play for and be mentored by. The way his mind thinks and works is just incredible. He pays attention to every little detail in everything, and that’s a huge reason why his teams and players are successful.”
The Wildcats also landed Nnnana Njoku earlier in the Spring to begin their 2021 recruiting cycle, then obviously landed Trey Patterson and now Longino. One name who the Wildcats heavily have an eye on and a name that Longino says he will recruit tons is four-star junior Stevie Mitchell. A close friend of Longino’s is now his main target.
When Stockrisers.com talked with Longino last month, his plan was to wait until he could visit some campuses then make his college choice. Instead, our country was hit with this pandemic and it sped up the decision for Longino who said he knew where he wanted to go two weeks ago.
“I think I fully knew I wanted to be a wildcat about two weeks ago when I had a phone call with Coach Wright and he began to explain just how important player development is for his program.”
To cap off our conversation, he highlighted his bias for his new program, saying “There has always been a small part of me that dreamed of playing for a great program like Nova, and the more I got to know the staff and the program, I just fell in love.”
