It’s looking like we are witnessing what could be one of 2028’s top-rated overall prospects.

Michai White is continuing what has been a breakout year for the 6-foot-2 guard out of Brewster Academy. After averaging over 13.5 points during his sophomore campaign, White’s growth has carried over into EYBL play.

White was a standout performer in the first session of EYBL play. He began AAU ball with a 36-point performance and is doing this all while playing up with City Rocks’ 17U squad.

Nearly a month later, White is also now a standout performer for Session III, averaging nearly 22.5 points per game, and has asserted himself as one of the top players on the entire circuit.

Schools are continuing to take notice. White has added new offers from Virginia, Providence, Villanova, and others, and continues to garner buzz in the recruiting world.

He gave Stockrisers.com an update on his recruitment.

Which schools are heavily involved?

“Louisville, Auburn, Northwestern, Villanova, Oklahoma State, Virginia, Maryland, and Indiana are heavily involved. Houston has also begun to show interest.”

Any new ones?

“Butler, DePaul, Illinois, and Houston are all new.”

Virginia?

“Virginia is another great program that has a history of winning and playing hard. Also, a lot of great guards that came out of there that prove they have a system that works.”

Louisville?

“Louisville is a great program historically, what they’ve done with guards, especially. I love their development and what Pat Kelsey is doing with his guards.”

Auburn?

“One of the best SEC programs that has a great developmental history of putting guys in the NBA. They trust their guards and let them play their game without any worry.”

Villanova?

“Villanova is a Big East powerhouse that has dominated college basketball, winning national championships over the past decade. They have a history with elite guards such as Jalen Brunson, where they trust them to win them games.”

Oklahoma State?

“They are a great program that competes and is known for their tough, fast, and defensive-minded approach with guards who love to get out and run. They always produce great guards.”

Planning any visits?

“I’m in talks to visit Auburn, OSU & Louisville.”

Scouting Report:

White is appointment television. He’s electric on the offensive end. Makes everyone around him better and is one of the most elite playmakers in the entire class. He continues to grow as a scorer, especially since the start of EYBL play. He’s asserted himself as a three-level scorer, which, combined with his elite creativity, has proved him to be one of the best guards in the country.

White is another one of those elite prospects playing with the City Rocks, who have had plenty over the last few years. I witnessed Deron Rippey Jr.'s long-term growth and have the same type of vision for White who is making a case for 2028’s top guy.
