Harvard Westlake (California) and Team CPSA’s Joe Sterling have been drawing a ton of attention after a massive summer on Puma’s Pro16 Circuit.

Sterling was named to Pro16’s First-Team this summer after averaging 21.2 points on 44% shooting from deep. In addition, 3.3 boards, 2.9 assists, and over a steal per game.

The 6-foot-4 senior is coming off that massive summer and is continuing to see growth on the recruiting front. He most recently took visits with Northern Iowa, New Mexico, and UCSB.

In addition, Texas offered him a scholarship, which is huge for Sterling, stamping him as a high-major caliber prospect. Washington State’s staff has also been in for in-home visits and is in heavy pursuit.

Sterling discussed this very recruitment with Stockrisers.com and gave a brief breakdown of his game.

Which schools are heavily involved?

”Texas, UCSB, Washington State, New Mexico, and Northern Iowa.”

Any new schools entered the mix?

”Texas is the newest one.”

Thoughts on Texas and the new offer?

”Texas is obviously a top-tier school athletically and academically. Coach [Sean] Miller is a legendary coach, and his resume speaks for itself. It’s an amazing opportunity, and I'm super excited to go out there for a visit.”

Thoughts on New Mexico, and what is the pitch?

”It’s a crazy atmosphere out there, and The Pit is legendary. The fans have been showing me a lot of love on social media. They are pitching the fit, and the opportunity to play right away is there for me.”

Washington State?

”They were my first official visit, and I love all of the staff. They’re pitching development and the opportunity to make a big impact right away.”

Speaking of visits, any others planned?

”Still working on my Texas visit.”

When are you targeting that visit?

”End of October.”

How would you best describe your game?

”I would describe my game as a three-level scorer and playmaker. Versatile and an underrated defender. Definitely somebody who’s gonna compete and do whatever it takes to win.”
