From the gridiron to the hardwood, Colben Landrew’s ascension from a top-rated football recruit just two years ago to now being a five-star basketball recruit was not one that was all that easy.

The 6-6 wing out of Wheeler High School (Georgia) has reached new heights in his basketball career and is now rated amongst the nation’s top seniors, and has several college programs heavily invested, looking for a shot to land him.

He bolstered his resume this summer on the Adidas 3SSB circuit, averaging 15 points per game on 55% shooting, along with 5.5 boards, nearly two steals, and two assists per game.

Landrew also participated in several of the year’s featured camps, including Damian Lillard’s Formula Zero camp where he was among the standouts in a camp that featured plenty of star power.

In early August, Landrew announced a Top-10 that included Auburn, Alabama, Texas, Georgia, Louisville, UConn, Purdue, Texas A&M, Ole Miss, and Mississippi State.

As things stand now, Stockrisers.com has been informed that Miami’s Jai Lucas and his staff have entered the mix, and several of the programs in his Top-10 remain heavily in contention. He discussed this with Stockrisers.com.

Louisville?

”Louisville is very high on me. I feel loved there, and they have a plan for my overall development. The visit went really well.”

Texas A&M?

”Texas A&M is a great school. I am familiar with the coach. They have a new system this year, and I can’t wait to see how they play this season.”

Alabama?

”Alabama is recruiting me really hard now. They are saying I can fit in their system really well.”

Purdue?

”Purdue has been recruiting me for a long time. I have a great relationship with their staff. Their overall system seems like it could be a great fit for me.”

Mississippi State?

”Mississippi State is also a good school. I’ve been getting recruited from that program since 8th grade. I will visit them this upcoming weekend.”

Ole Miss?

”Ole Miss is also another great school. Very familiar with the coaching staff. Can't wait to see how they play this year as well.”

How about some of the other programs?

”UConn and Miami have started recruiting me pretty hard as well. I’m interested in how I fit into their systems as well. I have had a few meetings with each school.”

How would you best describe your game?

”I would describe my game as smooth, not rushed, big guard—I’m still adding to my overall game, but I can defend multiple spots and score on all three levels.”
