Weekly Tidbits: The latest on five-star junior Alex Constanza

It is difficult to call a five-star recruit underrated nowadays. Still, it isn’t a cliche to say five-star junior Alex Constanza remains under the radar by the general population.

You don't hear him spoken about enough for a five-star with Constanza's elite-level talent, but I believe he should be garnering national attention.

If you emphasize the combination of skill and size when evaluating a recruit, look no further than Constanza. At 6 feet 9 inches and 215 pounds, along with a 7’1 wingspan, Alex has stifled opponents over the years with his ability to use his size and have it mesh well with the skill and fluidity of his game.

Starting in 2024, at around 6 feet 7 inches and 190 pounds, Constanza has grown physically, jumping two inches and gaining nearly 20 pounds of muscle. Seeing the development of his frame and skill, people are now considering a potential reclass to 2025.

Schools in the hunt for Constanza would be open to taking him either now or at his current graduation date 2026. That said, I view this as a win-win situation for him. He has what it takes to jump up and develop this year, but if he stays in school, he could skyrocket to a Top-five ranking.

His most recent visit was to Syracuse this weekend. He has family ties in Syracuse, and it was offered to him almost a year ago. The Orange seem to be back in the frenzy for five-star prospects, with Donovan Freeman being one of their most coveted recruits.

Constanza’s visit with the Orange was official, and there seem to be some others in the works. According to a source, he will visit Illinois in early December and is also working on several other visits, including Florida State, BYU, and Baylor.

Illinois is another program beginning to go after coveted five-stars that could either reclass or be potential one-and-done in their respective classes, most recently with Will Riley, who jumped up a class and is now a projected draft pick in the 2025 NBA Draft.

I think regardless of the route that Constanza opts to go, he will be in position to keep advancing in the game of basketball and only time will tell what is next for him as he continues to blossom on the court and is prepared for whatever route he opts to go.
