The 6-foot-2 point guard out of Mouth Of Wilson (Va.) Oak Hill Academy, has had a terrific last two months on the national level.
Whether it was his 40-point explosion at Marshall County, or his excellent play at Hoop Hall two weeks ago, Magwood is performing and he’s performing at the highest of levels against top-rated competition.
Magwood continues to lay under the radar, though.
His outstanding play didn’t just start this season, the momentum began this summer when Magwood played with Team United on the EYBL circuit and had a stock-rising type of summer. Multiple 20-point outings on the EYBL circuit, most of which came with efficient shooting splits.
Recruitment also continues to blossom for him but could continue to expand even more as he’s played terrific as of late.
Magwood got with Stockrisers.com to discuss his recruitment as of late and discussed his game as well.
Which schools are the heaviest in the mix?
“Miss. State, Xavier, Cincinnati, and Illinois still.”
And no new schools inquired recently you said?
“No, not really.”
What’s Xavier’s pitch to you and your thoughts on the program overall?
“The pitch [From Xavier] is Coach Miller’s style of play fits the way I play just perfectly. Also making sure I leave with a degree and developing me into a pro.”
How about Cincinnati, what are your thoughts on them and the vision they have for you?
“I haven’t visited the campus in whole but I know some of the history and tradition. They haven’t talked too much about vision yet.”
Illinois has been in the mix for a while, what are your thoughts on their program?
“I don’t know any more about Illinois because of the commitment of Jeremy Fears, however, I still talk to Coach Frazier about Illinois.”
How would you best describe your game?
“I’m a leader. I try to make sure we don’t lose no matter what needs to be done. I pass better than I get credit for, my scoring just stands out. I feel I am the best overall guard in my class and I’ve proven that.”
