Talking finalists and a commitment timeline with Darren Buchanan Jr.
Last night, four-star senior Darren Buchanan Jr. announced his final five of Virginia Tech, George Mason, Georgetown, George Washington, and Rutgers. The 6-foot-7, 225-pound senior prospect is already developing nicely and many believe physically he’s ready for the college level.
Buchanan Jr. is having a stellar senior campaign for Woodrow Wilson, averaging 17.9 points, 10.3 rebounds, and nearly three assists per game. Woodrow is currently preparing for a playoff run after a 21-win season and DBJ is going to be a vital part of that run.
He talked about his final five and a commitment timeline with Stockrisers.com
Georgetown: “Came in the mix a few months ago. Hometown school with a lot of history in the city and means so much to the city. Trying to get back to the top of the Big East and is somewhere I can come in and better myself for sure. Coach Pat [Ewing] praises me high and so does the rest of the coaching staff.”
Virginia Tech: “I have a strong relationship with associate head coach Mike Jones, I met him a while back when he was at DeMatha. Playing in arguably the best conference in the country and coaches say I would fit well for what they are trying to do. They say they will help me develop and get to where I want to go.”
George Washington: “By far the school that’s recruiting me the hardest. Been recruiting myself since 10th grade and haven’t stopped or slowed down at all. A great relationship with all coaches and I’ll have the opportunity to play as a freshman.”
Rutgers: “They have also been recruiting me since the 10th grade and had slowed down a little but picked back up. Their message to me stays the same, they want me to come in and make an impact right away [as a freshman]”
George Mason: “Great school me and Coach English talk back and forth almost every day. It’s been great talking with him and building that relationship and I love what he and his staff is building up there.”
