Braelon Green has paved his way into a five-star rating (2023) with his major potential and his ability to impact both ends on the basketball floor.

The Ypsilanti, Michigan native, Green, was an under-the-radar freshman at Lincoln High School who didn’t really get his chance to showcase his fullest abilities. Behind former No. 1 ranked prospect Emoni Bates, Green was just arriving and got a chance to start alongside the current Memphis Tiger. But once given the keys and a chance to shine, the message for Green was simple:

Show the world why he’s a household name. And Green did just that.

Despite a major shoulder injury prior to his sophomore season, there were doubts about if Green would even have a chance at playing most of his second campaign at Lincoln, but he did and he ran with the opportunity.

Green would wound up playing and having a terrific season. A gifted offensive prospect, Green is spectacular around the rim and can obviously score on multiple levels. Defensively, he uses his high-level athleticism and quick feet which makes him a major plus defender, which he has proven to be. His upside is through the roof, and it’s the reason many high-major programs are in pursuit.

After a great season at home playing for Lincoln, Green decided it was time for him to take his game and development elsewhere, somewhere with a huge basketball platform and a spot where he will play for a big-time coach in Julius V: Southern California Academy.

We chopped it up, Green and I, for a Stockrisers.com recruiting interview. Here’s the read:

Which schools are heavily involved?

“The schools that are heavily involved are Michigan State, Mississippi State, Mizzou, and Marquette.”

Any newer schools that have reached out?

“The newest schools that have reached out are Houston, Virginia, and Miami.”

Discuss Michigan State. What’s their pitch and your overall thoughts?

“My parents and I love the staff and the overall environment. A plus is it’s close to home, I would like my parents to be at my games and support me. MSU sees me coming in and being an immediate impact. They see the pro potential in me, my goals are important and they believe they can fulfill them.”

Has Jaxon Kohler (2022 Mich. State commit, SCA teammate) been in your ear about them?

“Definitely, Jaxon is in my ear about it every day.”

How about Mizzou? Cuonzo came in to see you, what are his pitch and your thoughts?

“Coach Martin loves my game. he thinks I can fit in their system because I’m a two-way player. He wants me to be the floor general and also play off the ball.”

Is an official visit there still occurring?

“Yeah, it was now moved to the Spring.”

How about Mississippi State? What’s their pitch and your overall thoughts on the program?

“Coach Zeigler has known my family for a while and has seen me grow up. He loves my athleticism and my playmaking ability. I like the family tradition they have and their facilities.”

How has your game developed since your arrival at SCA? What have you been working on?

“Since I arrived at SCA, I’ve gotten into more shape. For the last few weeks, I have been working on being consistent and more fluid with my moves. I think that is going to bring my game up another notch. We get pro work every day and it’s a blessing to be in such a unique position.”

How would you describe your game if someone asked?

”I am an athletic shot-creator that gives his all on the defensive side of the ball. I believe my defense is the best part of my game.”

When will you cut down your recruitment and/or when will you commit?

“I’m not sure when I will cut my list down. It will probably be in the coming months.”
