Five-star junior Donovan arrives in Ann Arbor, talks visits, more
Last season, Donovan Clingan emerged as one of 2022’s top-rated big men. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the 7-foot-1 big out of Bristol Central in Connecticut landed scholarship offers from nearly ten programs.
He started the contact period just having six scholarship offers but that number doubled once coaches began recruiting him and speaking with him. He reeled in scholarships from nearly fifteen programs and his list varies from all major conferences.
He brings a combination of size and skill which has been displayed this season. Clingan can run the floor very well, scores on multiple levels, great length, etc. He flat-out dominated early all season and he averaged 32 points and 14.3 rebounds in his first three games here during his junior campaign.
Clingan remained consistent as the season went on and was named his state’s Gatorade Player of the Year. Now, he has begun taking his visits. Last week, he took an unofficial visit to local UConn, and now as we speak, he’s arriving in Ann Arbor where he will begin his official visit with Juwan Howard and Michigan. After that, he will have visits to Syracuse and Ohio State.
His UConn visit?
“The UConn unofficial was good, it was nice to just be on a college campus again after being in quarantine for a year and a half. They showed me how they work out the bigs and how they use them, we were only there for a little bit, I take my official visit there July 1-2.”
Arriving in Ann Arbor for his Michigan visit.
“I started my official visit last night and it’s starting off very good, Juwan Howard and his staff are really cool and I’m looking forward to the rest of my visit.”
Syracuse visit approaching.
“I go on my official visit for Syracuse next week, they were the first school to offer me, they’ve always believed in me from the start, I'm excited to get out there with Coach Boeheim and his staff.”
Ohio State.
“I'm excited to go out to Ohio State for my official visit in two weeks, we hold a good relationship, and I can’t wait to see what they have to show me.”
