Introducing 2023's George Washington III

I’ve introduced several 2023 prospects here on Stockrisers.com, though this prospect is yet to land a scholarship offer, hence why we’re here now.

George Washington III is originally from Austin, Texas but has transitioned into a new state for his sophomore campaign. The 6-foot-3 guard now hails in Louisville, Kentucky where he attends the Christian Academy of Louisville.

This season, he’s adjusted to his new school with a new role and new teammates, and boy, he’s thrived and has thrived quickly. He’s a very fluid shooter, great athlete, and back to the shooting, he’s deadly. I think when all is said and done, he will be regarded as one of the best shooters/scorers in his class, but, will also be highly-rated in his new state.

His recruitment is where my mind-boggles the most, yes, he’s an underclassman and has plenty of time, but he should have a scholarship offer. He does hold several high-major interests and I would expect more to flow in, but I don’t think we will wait that long until we see one school become the first scholarship for George Washington III.

The underrated shooting guard talked about his recruitment, his game, and where he wants to develop most with Stockrisers.com.

Which programs are involved with your recruitment early?

“I’d say the ones I’ve contacted the most are Louisville, Florida State, Ohio State, and Purdue.”

Louisville is your new local school, how are things with them?

“I’d say that it’s pretty good, I’ve talked to Coach Murray quite a bit and have talked to Coach Mack too.”

How about a program like Florida State, who did you speak with, and what was said?

“I've mostly just talked to Coach [CY] Young from Florida State. They say they really like me and I’m one of the few 2023’s that they are recruiting. They have probably been watching me for the longest though, since sixth grade.”

What about Purdue, how has it been being recruited by them?

“Purdue has been the newest school, but I’ve talked to Coach Shrewsberry and Coach Brantley. They have said that they are looking for a point guard for the 2023’s and looking at me for that spot.”

Finally, how about a Big Ten program in Ohio State?

“They are probably in contact with my coach the most. Yes, I have talked with Coach Pedon and I’d say I talk to them, FSU, and Louisville all the same.”

Describe your game?

“I’d like to say that I’m kind of a Damian Lillard-type guard who scores at all three levels and likes to stretch the defense out with deep threes, but, also attack strong and finish well, with a pretty good pull-up jumper too. And, I use a lot of the attention that is focused on me to create open passes for my teammates.”

How has your move to Kentucky been and how is the season going?

“The move has been really easy. Kentucky is a great place and God has really blessed me to be here. And the season has really picked up for us, we have a tough schedule and are easily above .500 on the year as well as on a winning streak at the moment. Things are great.”

In what area are you looking to improve on your game?

“I think the thing that I am definitely learning is to still score 25-30+ against face guards and doubles, I still score 20 most of the time against those defenses but it can be prettier.”
