Breaking: Dayton lands four-star senior Lynn Greer III
Anthony Grant and Dayton have emerged as a program on the rise in college basketball. With the superstar career of Obi Toppin at Dayton over (drafted by NY Knicks), the Flyers now have some leverage, and behind excellent coaching and now recruiting from Anthony Grant, they have now become an underrated threat nationally.
Grant has now added another very sneaky good pledge.
IMG Academy’s post-graduate guard Lynn Greer III tells Stockrisers.com that he will end his recruitment and commit to the Dayton Flyers. Greer III joins Malachi Smith, Da’Ron Holmes, and Kaleb Washington. First and foremost, this is a major land as I believe he’s still that Top-50 caliber player.
Greer III is a 6-foot-3, 180-pound point guard who hails from Philadelphia and formerly attended Roman Catholic where he reeled in several championships and bolstered himself as a high-major recruit. This is a major upside move as well. Greer III was once a member of the 2020 class but opted to reclassify the last winter. He is on track grade-wise and his age matches those in the 2021 class.
Greer III discussed his decision to commit to the Flyers with Stockrisers.com, he also broke down his fellow pledges joining him at Dayton.
Why did you commit to the Dayton Flyers?
“I chose Dayton because the family environment they have over at the school and coach made me feel at home.”
On the topic of coach, discuss your future leader in Anthony Grant?
“Coach Grant is one of the best coaches in college basketball very experienced, he’s been at every level so he knows what it takes to get to that next level and make it to the national tournament with the players that we’ll have no doubt in my mind we will make it with him coaching us.”
You’re friends with former Dayton star Obi Toppin, what did he have to say about Grant?
“Obi [Toppin] is one of my good friends and he went there last year and had nothing but great things to say about Dayton and Coach Grant.”
Discuss the 2021 class? How did that impact your decision and what do you know about the fellow pledges?
“I think we’re the most underrated class in the country we have a lot to prove and we’re going to work until we prove everyone wrong. Mali is a scorer. I can see me and him in the backcourt getting along very well, just knowing there’s another guard who can create for himself and others. Da’Ron is a 6’9 four-man that can do it all, super athletic, can shoot, and skilled to get his own shot off. A lot of lobs coming his way for sure, Kaleb is a 6’7 three-man that is super athletic and can put it on the floor, shoot it, dunk on you, and scream in your face.”
Your role? What has coach Grant and the staff pitched to you and what will your role be?
“Coach wants me to come in and work hard as soon as I get there and be the best version of myself that I can be. Everything worked for will be given. He doesn’t want me to be a robot he wants me to play my game he believes in me and my playmaking.”
If Dayton fans haven’t heard of you, how would describe your game and what should they know?
“I’m a player who’s going to go out there and play hard everyday in practice and in the games for the name on the front of my jersey, everything else will show.”
