The state of Texas continues to assert itself as one of the most loaded basketball states in the entire country. I can truly say that anytime I watch a prospect from any city in Texas, I’m left impressed.

That’s the exact reaction I had the first time I watched Richardson’s Rylan Griffen his freshman year.

Griffen is a 6-foot-5 shooting guard out of Richardson, Texas. This season, he’s established himself as one of the best two guards in the entire state and his season averages include 22.0 points, 6.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists, and 1.5 steals. Griffen, alongside fellow Top-50 junior Cason Wallace, has helped lead Richardson to an astonishing 12-1 record this season.

Over his last few games, Griffen has recorded two 30+ point performances, both resulting in Richardson victories. Last night, he continued the dominance midway through his junior season. Griffen hit the game-winning shot for Richardson last night and he finished with 27 points giving him a total of 90 points in his last three games.

As far as where things stand with his recruitment, he remains wide-open and is hearing from a wide variety of programs varying from all different conferences. He discussed his recruitment with Stockrisers.com and which programs are heavily involved

Which programs are heavily involved?

“The schools heavily involved are really all of the programs in the Big 12, plus Arizona and Louisville.”

How about any newer programs as of late?

“The new schools are Alabama and Virginia. Alabama they’re on a roll right now and Coach Hodgson and I talk here and there.”

What are your thoughts on how these programs recruiting you are playing?

“Really any of the Big 12 programs play alike. Heavy focus on the defensive end which I am really liking. I like what I’m seeing from all the schools like Baylor, Oklahoma, Kansas, etc.”

How is the season going so far?

“It’s going very well. We’re playing good right now with very good chemistry so hopefully, we keep this up.”

Briefly describe your game.

“I think I’m a scorer who will also try and grab offensive rebounds and do whatever I can to contribute to my team winning.”
