2022 is a class full of sharpshooting guards. That includes one of Illinois’ top-rated prospects in Jaden Schutt. The 6-foot-5 guard out of Yorkville Christian (IL.) holds nearly 25 scholarship offers and is being prioritized nationally.

In an era where Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, Damian Lillard, Trae Young, and many others have made the league a shooting league, it has made guys like Schutt hot commodities. His shooting stroke is one that never fails to amaze anyone scouting or evaluating his game. He’s even made double-digit threes in a game.

Schutt’s sophomore season, he obviously excelled in the scoring department. He averaged 23 points, nine rebounds, two assists, and added two steals per game during his sophomore year with Yorkville Christian.

His recruitment? He updated us on that. He talked about schools involved, broke down schools, and more with Stockrisers.com.

Which schools are heavily involved?

“Iowa, Michigan State, Wisconsin, Ohio State, and Illinois.”

Discuss the hometown program, Illinois, and thoughts on them?

“Illinois is the home state and Brad Underwood has let me know I am a priority and I enjoy watching their fast pace game and how they develop players.”

Discuss Iowa, they’re among the ones who have been on you heavy.

“Iowa and Fran McCaffery have been in touch with me for a while and I like their play style and how they play offensively.”

How about a program in Wisconsin and Greg Gard’s Badgers?

“Wisconsin has been in touch and they have a continuing winning reputation and they are making me a priority as well.”

What are the next few months looking like basketball-wise?

“Still unknown for the when the season will start but I have been working and I am ready to go and can’t wait for the opportunity.”

When will you speed things up in your recruitment, now that you enter junior year?

“I’m looking to take visits and see campuses and talk to coaches in person, so as of right now there is no timetable for a decision but hopefully once I’m able to make visits I will be able to break things down and have a better idea of where I want to go.”
