Today, I’ll be taking a look at Denmark (WI.) forward Donovan Short.

The 6-foot-10 junior attends Denmark High School and plays his AAU ball with Phenom University/Team Herro. His skill set is one that is going to earn him tons of scholarship offers in the coming months. A forward that plays with guard skills handle the ball extremely well, knock down shots and is quick on his feet for his size.

He landed his first scholarship offer from UW-Milwaukee. Short does play his AAU ball with Patrick Baldwin Jr. and landed the offer from Jr’s father Patrick Baldwin Sr, who is the head coach at UWM.

In addition, he recently added an offer from USC and Andy Enfield. The Trojans have been flying under-the-radar in the state of Wisconsin over the past few years and have now offered several guys from the state including most recently offering Short. Andy Enfield will coach Kobe Johnson, who also plays in the Phenom University program.

Short discussed his recruitment and his game with Stockrisers.com.

Which schools are involved?

“I have a fair few schools involved. All the coaches that have reached out are Ohio State, Stanford, Princeton, Miami (Ohio), Houston, Marquette,  Milwaukee Arizona State, Boise State, Butler, Creighton, California, Georgia, Wisconsin UWGB, Belmont University, South Dakota State, USC, Iowa State, and Virginia Tech.”

Who are the most recent schools to enter the mix?

“Iowa State, Virginia Tech, USC, Georgia, Boise State, Princeton, South Dakota State, UWGB. These are also the most active schools.”

How are you handling the recruiting process?

“I’m handling the process as it comes, I’m happy and thankful to receive anything I get going forward and I’m focused on continuing to better my game and myself. I’m very thankful for the opportunities I have.”

You had a 42-point game recently, how did that go?

“It was a tight and close game. They ran a 1-3-1 defense so I did everything to exploit that. I had seven three’s and two dunks to match it.”

USC offered you recently as well, how was the talk with them?

“The USC talk was great. He was reaching out to see how I was doing and also to congratulate me on my 42-point game.”

Describe the game of Donovan Short.

“I like to say I’m a Stretch Big and I’m working on evolving to a point forward. I can play on the perimeter, and I can bang it down low. I can guard the 3-5 spots and I’m very versatile when it comes to passing, shooting, dribbling, and post moves.”

Season expectations?

“My season expectations are to win the conference championship and make a run for state. I feel my team and I have a very great chance and accomplishing these goals.”
