Wichita native, Gradey Dick, announced that he will be transferring to the usual national powerhouse, Sunrise Christian Academy. Last season’s Gatorade Player of the Year in the state already holds many high-major offers and has also grown in both the height and weight section.

He has grown from 6-foot-5 and 170-pounds to 6-foot-7 then now 195-pounds. He’s been an impactful player for a Sunrise Christian Academy squad that has had several games canceled.

In last week’s Battle of The Rock event in South Carolina, Dick and Sunrise were very impressive. They opened up the season by playing in that event and they played outstanding with some help from Gradey Dick. He was around the rim, hitting his shots, running the floor well, and lastly, was playing with high-IQ.

Gradey took the time to discuss his recruitment with Stockrisers.com.

Which schools are heavily involved?

“Kansas, Kansas State, Baylor, Oklahoma State, Florida, Alabama, Colorado, Purdue, Illinois, Texas Tech, Iowa State, North Carolina, Virginia.”

How about the newer schools in the mix?

“Florida, Alabama, and Illinois.”

Kansas is obviously a possible landing spot, thoughts on them?

“Kansas has recruited me since day one and I hear from them usually every day, it’s a big advantage having them so close and being able to go to games.”

Kendall [Brown] been bugging you about Baylor? Thoughts on them?

“Baylor has also been recruiting me from the start and living in a house with Baylor commit, Kendall, helps with learning more about the school.”

How about a program like North Carolina, which hasn’t offered.

“North Carolina keeps up with me weekly. They haven’t offered but I like their playstyle and what they do with their wings.”

How has your game grown this season?

“I feel like my game has really grown since I made the move to Sunrise, I feel like I have a better pace to my playstyle than I did before.”

Season expectations/goals

“Obviously our team goal is to win it all, everyone’s should be but for our team personally, we need to bring it every day and not take plays/practices off so we can be the best that we can possibly be.”
