Breaking: Purdue has landed four-star junior Jameel Brown

Despite missing his entire sophomore season with a broken wrist, Jameel Brown is in a much better place and was being recruited by plenty of high-major programs. The 6-foot-3 guard out of Haverford (PA.), led his team to an undefeated mark of 28-0 his freshman season and was a participant at USA Basketball’s U16 mini-camp.

Now, Brown has decided he will shut his recruitment down and he has made a college decision. Brown will be committing to Matt Painter and the Purdue Boilermakers, he told Stockrisers.com. He joins Fletcher Loyer as the two lone commitments for the program’s 2022 class.

But why Purdue for Jameel Brown?

”I’m going to Purdue. I chose them because I felt like it’s the right fit, basketball-wise, and also just having Coach Painter’s trust. Obviously, the Big Ten is one of the best conferences in the country, so that as well.”

Why commit now?

”I chose them now because obviously, COVID-19 has sped up the process. Basically, I don’t know when the next time I’ll be able to play in front of college coaches so Purdue just felt like the right fit at the right time [for me].”

How will choosing Purdue help your game?

”It’s gonna help my game because it will allow me to move without the ball, play on the ball and off the ball. Taking open shots, being a leader, and being vocal.”

Talk about your fellow Purdue pledge, Fletcher Loyer.

“Fletcher Loyer is the only other commit in my class right now. He’s a great player, I saw a couple of highlights, and he could really shoot it and he’s about 6’3 or 6’4, I think we can complement each other's games and do well at Purdue.”

Message to the Purdue fans.

”I feel like I’m going to come in and want to win, that’s my main goal to win and get better every single day. Play every possession super hard, just stay the course as well. There’s going to be bad games and good games so I’m going to stay level-headed.”
