Junior College talent has seen it reach a new dynamic over the past few years, most recently landing a JUCO draft pick in John A. Logan’s Jay Scrubb. He also has a super talented JUCO teammate that he played with in Sydney Curry and he made his college choice.

Curry has selected the University of Kansas, he told Stockrisers.com. So, the Jayhawks are instantly landing someone who’s arguably one of the top junior college big men in the country and has an absolute pro build at 6-foot-10 and 240-pounds.

But why Kansas for Sydney Curry?

“Why wouldn’t you like to play for a legendary coach and a legendary program? This was a no-brainer and the best stepping stone to get to the league.”

What sealed the deal for you?

"Them being Kansas man, and me having a relationship with Coach Howard. Im going to come in and handle my business. Become a man down there and be everything I could be.”

How will Kansas help expand your game and development?

“It will help my game because Kansas’ bigs are effective you know, averaging eight or more points and enter the league. Also I got my one year of eligibility back so i'll be a sophomore which is another thing that will be important."

What was Coach Self’s comparison, if any

”Coach Self never really compared me to anybody. He would just tell me how i'm my own player."

What separates you from other big men?

“I’m more athletic then the average big. I grew to 6-foot-9 over the summer. I’m faster then a lot of bigs.”
