Top-40 junior Isaac McKneely is down to eight schools
Prior to the transition to the F5 Networks, Stockrisers.com had discovered a short-sharpshooting guard that goes by the name of Isaac McKneely. We fast forward months later and that 6-foot-2 prospect out of Poca in West Virginia is now standing at 6-foot-4 and has even gained nearly 20 pounds of muscle, making him 175 pounds.
McKneely is a sharpshooter, prides himself offensively. Recently in a workout with his trainer, McKneely made 102 three’s in a five-minute span. His impressive shooting ability has drawn him comparisons to Miami Heat’s rookie sensation, Tyler Herro.
Herro is a player that McKneely says he’s compared to along with Denver Nuggets superstar Jamal Murray.
“I watch mostly Tyler Herro and Jamal Murray film. I’ve heard comparisons of me to both of those guys, and I can see it. So I try to model my game after them by watching them do their thing in the league,” McKneely said.
McKneely is now down to eight schools: West Virginia, Indiana, Illinois, Louisville, Virginia, Purdue, North Carolina, and Kentucky, he told Stockrisers.com. He broke down all eight finalists (scroll down).
He said he will sign early next year and as far as a commitment he will commit whenever he feels a fit with one of these schools.
West Virginia: “It’s my home state. I’ve got a good relationship with a couple of players on the team currently. They’ve been recruiting me for a while, and I got to go to a couple of games last year which was awesome.”
Indiana: “The coaching staff has been prioritizing me for several months now. I’ve formed a good relationship with multiple coaches there. The style of play is great, and I got out to a game last year, the atmosphere at Assembly Hall is amazing.”
Illinois: “They’ve done a great job recruiting me. I’ve got a good relationship with a few coaches on the staff. I would fit really well in their system, and they’ve really turned into one of the top programs in basketball.”
Louisville: “I’ve built a great relationship with Coach Mack. It’s close to home. They really utilize their guards, so I think I’d do great there.”
Virginia: “Got to visit twice before the pandemic hit. Got a good feel for their facilities and the culture there. I’ve really enjoyed getting to know Coach Bennett. Great academic school as well.”
Purdue: “Coach Painter is a great coach, been there several years, and has built a big-time program down there. They’ve done a good job recruiting me, and I think I could come in and contribute early.”
UNC: “It’s early in the process with them. They’ve been recruiting me for about a month or two now. It’s a great school on and off the court. I met current freshman Puff Johnson through our AAU team. He’s told me a lot of great things about the Tarheels.”
Kentucky: “Also just getting started with them. They’ve said they really like my game. They are obviously a big-time program, and they really develop their players to get them ready for the next level. So I think they would be a great option for me.”
