Breaking: Auburn lands five-star senior Jabari Smith
Auburn has landed arguably the highest-rated recruit in program history as five-star senior Jabari Smith will be committing to Bruce Pearl and the Auburn Tigers. Smith chose them over LSU, Tennessee, Georgia, and North Carolina. You will see him ranked as a top-five prospect by almost every outlet in the industry and it is deserving.
Smith is a USA Basketball gold medalist and burst onto the scene very late. Over one year ago, he held no offers and wasn't ranked high on any sites. Now the 6-foot-10 dynamic prospect is a consensus Top-10 prospect and will likely see himself playing in many major events at the end of his senior year.
Luckily for Smith, he was able to see majority of the schools that were recruiting him prior to the COVID-19 outbreak, including his future program:
“I enjoyed my visit to Auburn. They have a family atmosphere,” Smith said that after his last visit to Auburn's campus.
Another thing he liked about the program is that they pride themselves on the defensive end and that style of play is something that caught the eye of Smith who is a very dominant player on that end of the floor with all of his size and athleticism.
Smith could be in a similar role as Isaac Okoro, despite the size differential both will be coming in with high expectations and both pride themselves on the defensive end and I believe that he will have a similar role that Okoro had as a true freshman.
