Top-50 junior Vince Iwuchukwu talks his recruitment, game
I’ve watched several big men prospects over the past few months and the list goes on and on. Vincent Iwuchukwu is a major upside seven-footer out of Texas. The 2022 prospect announced this summer that he will be enrolling at La Lumiere (IN.) this fall where he’s looking forward to playing on a national schedule this season.
“At LaLu I just look forward to getting better and doing things that can help elevate my game and hopefully play against some top competition,” Iwuchukwu said.
He also leads himself busy recruitment which includes several programs and is still wide-open.
Baylor, Florida State, Kansas, Kentucky, Texas Tech, Texas, Purdue, Missouri, are among the programs currently involved with Iwuchukwu, who broke down three of those programs with Stockrisers.com.
Baylor: “They have a very good staff and they’re a great school and it would be an opportunity to play close to home.”
Florida State: “I’ve been in touch with coach Steve [Smith] at FSU and the other coaches are also great.”
Kansas: “KU is a school that catches my eye after this year's great run and seeing guys that they’ve put in the league, it’s a really great school.”
Iwuchukwu also said ‘Missouri and Purdue are also two schools I’ve talked to the coaches a lot and have good relationships with’
The newest programs involved with him are Ohio State and Kentucky. Iwuchukwu said that Ohio State is one of the newer programs that he himself has had contact with. As for Kentucky, they just added former Texas assistant Jai Lucas to their staff and he was in pursuit of Iwuchukwu while at UT and I expect Kentucky to inquire.
As far as his game goes, Iwuchukwu gave a personal scouting report on his game:
“My game is pretty balanced out I’d say. For my strong suit is my defense on and off-ball and offensively I can do work in the post and have moves to work within the midrange and developing my outside game.”
