Last fall, Austin Nunez checked in at just 5-foot-10 and was your average small-ball sharpshooter. Fast forward to now, the four-star incoming junior stands at 6-foot-2 and weighs over 170-pounds and has landed 10+ high-major offers since last year.

The Texas native holds offers from Baylor, LSU, Texas A&M, Memphis, Oklahoma State, others.

Nunez first appeared on the court this summer in July when his AAU program, Texas Hardwork, made their return to the court. He was impressive as he was all season long during his sophomore year campaign. His first game back he hit six three’s and was extremely impressive and it drew the attention of Virginia’s Tony Bennett who now is in full pursuit of Nunez.

Virginia likes me a lot. They haven’t offered anyone in my class yet but they are recruiting me very hard. They asked me if the distance [from home] was an issue and it’s not. I’ve built a very good relationship with the staff,” Nunez said.

Then we shift to two local programs in Texas and Texas A&M, Nunez broke down both with Stockrisers.com.

Texas: “Texas is recruiting me hard. Shaka [Smart] calls me every now and then and our relationship is pretty close cause it was established at a very young age for me being around their program because of other kids we had in our AAU program that they recruited.”

Texas A&M: “They are recruiting me hard as well. Me and Buzz [Williams] talk a lot about how Texas A&M could be able to help me progress on and off the court. He thinks I’m a point guard that would fit right into their system.”

Recently, Nunez held a zoom call with Arkansas’ Eric Musselman that resulted in a scholarship offer for the sharpshooting guard. His father said that the whole staff was in attendance and they spent nearly an hour just showing Nunez how he’d fit into their system.

He also virtually met with Oklahoma State’s Mike Boynton last week and landed an offer from them as well.

Among the other programs involved include Arkansas, Illinois, Baylor, Michigan, Stanford, Houston, Georgetown, and Oklahoma State.
