Four-star junior John Camden talks his recruitment
After making a move from Westtown to Archbishop Carroll, John Camden battled with some injuries that kept him out for some of his season but once he returned he showed why he's one of the most unique players in the 2021 class.
He returned less than midway through the season and looked like his normal self, averaging nearly 20 points per game and had multiple 30-point games under his belt. This summer was without a doubt going to be a breakout summer for him, but, I still fully expect many high-majors to offer here.
The 6-foot-8 sharpshooter held early offers from Miami, Penn State, Syracuse, amongst many others.
During COVID-19 he began to train and really develop his body and that caught the attention of several programs that jumped into his recruitment during the quarantine. In three days this spring, he landed new offers from Indiana, TCU, Wake Forest, then weeks after that he landed offers from Nebraska and Memphis.
I had Camden breakdown three programs that are on him, not a list cut or anything just three programs involved.
Memphis: “Great relationship with coaches, play style, and system that would help prepare me for the next level. Big on personal development.”
Virginia Tech: “Playstyle fits and highlights my game, I think I could do big things under Mike Young. ACC is always a big stage.”
Nebraska: “Under Coach Hoiberg, I would learn a lot from a guy who has NBA experience on the court and in the front office, and their playstyle fits my game as well.”
Miami, Indiana, TCU, Wake Forest, among many others do indeed remain involved with Camden who says that he has no clue when he will cut down or announce his commitment. His focus remains on developing his game and training.
He has completed recent zoom calls with Memphis, Virginia Tech, and Nebraska.
