After his breakout at ‘The John Wall’ last year, Eric Van Der Heijden watched his recruitment grow immensely. He landed 15+ scholarship offers and would end up cutting his list down to Texas, Cincinnati, Louisville, Ole Miss, Maryland, Iowa, Marquette, Providence, and Wake Forest.

But, he could only choose one.

“Louisville is where i'll be heading. It made the most sense for me in every aspect,” he told Stockrisers.com.

The recruitment of him began last month when the staff held him for a virtual zoom call which included several members of the staff and would end up landing him an offer. He said that since they first spoke over a month ago, the staff has remained in consistent contact and they built a very good relationship.

“They called me a month and a half ago and we have talked everyday since."

He also said that he’s known for about two weeks that he wanted to join the Cardinals.

This gives them currently, a four-man class that is if you don't include Gabe Wiznitzer who was previously a member of the 2021 class but enrolled at Louisville this summer and will redshirt. He joins Top-rated JUCO El Ellis, Bryce Hopkins, and Bobby Pettiford Jr.

The commitment of van der Heijden puts the Cardinals in the top-five for 2021 recruiting rankings. I believe this class isn't done yet. Harrison Ingram cuts his list tomorrow and there's a shot the Cardinals make the cut.
