Breaking: Michigan State lands 2022's Enoch Boakye
Tom Izzo is having a spectacular month of July, landing Emoni Bates, perhaps the top-rated player in America, along with five-star junior Max Christie. Now, Izzo gets some more work done with his 2022 class landing Top-30 prospect Enoch Boakye who has committed to the Spartans, he told Stockrisers.com.
“I chose the school because of how much effort they put in recruiting me. Coach Izzo flew down to Canada A few times to watch me play, even in a practice setting. And I heard the first time he came down to Canada it had been 20 years since he flew down to recruit a player. And that meant a lot to me, just that gesture alone made me believe I will be loved at Michigan State University.”
Boakye is considered as a five-star just by one outlet, as far as the new Stockrisers’ grading system goes I see him as a potential Top-20 prospect. This is an excellent recruiting job by Izzo who is able to nab a five-star off the board early. Why exactly did Boakye announce his decision with two years of high school remaining?
“I decided to commit early because of the pandemic that was going on. I was really looking forward to taking official visits and enjoying my recruitment, but I didn’t want to leave college coaches on. My main goal is the NBA so I decided to come in early and focus on my craft.”
Another nice thing for Tom Izzo is the fact that Boakye has some FIBA basketball experience. He averaged 8.3 points and 10.6 rebounds in the 2019 U16 championships. He will boast MSU’s rebounding a paint presence.
‘Despite many people thinking a possible reclass could come out of this, Boakye tells Stockrisers.com that as of right now he won’t be reclassifying.
