Four-star senior A'mare Bynum talks official visits, recruitment
Omaha native and 6-foot-8 senior A’mare Bynum had a terrific junior campaign last season for Omaha’s Bryan High School.
The skilled power forward averaged 21.5 points, 9.0 boards, and nearly 3.0 blocks per game. After that massive junior year, Bynum opted to transfer to national power, Link Academy.
That said, between his amazing junior year and playing on the circuit with Mokan Elite, I feel Bynum is still a prospect who lies under the radar.
As this is a recruiting interview, Bynum has begun a string of six official visits for the next six weekends. It started last week with local Nebraska, which has made it evident that Bynum is the program's top target in 2025.
Bynum is on Iowa’s campus for his second official visit, just days after Iowa sent an assistant coach to see him this past week.
So, it’s apparent Bynum’s recruitment is heating up, although he tells Stockrisers.com he remains open [to new schools].
Here’s Bynum’s in-depth conversation with Stockrisers.com, discussing the six programs he is officially visiting.
Which schools are the heaviest involved in your recruitment?
“Xavier, Iowa, Nebraska, Colorado, Ohio State, and LSU.”
Have any newer schools tried to enter the mix?
“No, not really.”
How was your Nebraska visit and the breakdown of the pitch from the staff?
“It was good. We did many things, and the pitch is that I’m their priority.”
Iowa, what are your overall thoughts on them and your relationship with the staff?
“I like them. I talk to Coach McCaffery a lot; he and I have a great bond. Me and Coach Sherman I talk often. They visited me at the Link and discussed my visit this week.”
How about Xavier? What’s your relationship with Coach Miller like, and what are your thoughts on them?
“Xavier is great. I talk to Coach Miller and Coach Anderson all the time. I have a great relationship with both of them. They want me to come in and make an impact right away, and they just saw me a couple of days ago at school.”
How about Ohio State? Do you think about what Coach Diebler is doing with the program?
“They’re doing great. Coach [Diebler] talks to me frequently, and the program is rising.”
LSU? Thoughts on them, and what is the pitch from them? They just got a fellow top-100 recruit.
“I like them. Since the summer, they have talked to me about how versatile I am and want me to make an immediate impact if I come.”
Finally, Colorado, what is the pitch, and is your relationship with them good?
“My relationship with them is great. I talk to them every day. The pitch is to come in, make an impact, and be a versatile forward as they see me.”
Have you decided on a decision timeline?
“No, not yet, maybe around October or early November.”
Senior year goals?
“Win Chipotle Nationals.”
