Indiana is one of those states that is always breeding top-tier talent. Over the years, the state has produced several NBA draft picks and has always shown it has good basketball. It's a premier hoop state.

Steven Reynolds III is quickly cementing himself as one of those premier talents to come out of Indiana. The 6-foot-5 incoming junior has positively impacted the court this summer, showing why he’s one of his state's top prospects.

Whether it was on the Adidas circuit where he was able to show his effectiveness as not only an elite three-level scorer but a guy who gives top-notch effort on both ends of the floor, or whether it was at the Charlie Hughes showcase in June where he averaged 26 points per game.

Steven Reynolds III is always showing up.

He saw success this past season in his sophomore campaign with South Bend’s Washington High School, averaging 21 points, 8.5 boards, 3.5 assists, 3.0 blocks, and two steals a game while shooting 42% from the field.

Although those are high-level numbers, he’s primed for a massive junior year, and I can also bet those shooting splits take a major jump.

Reynolds III most recently visited Michigan State, one of the many schools in pursuit of him. He discussed his recruitment with Stockrisers.com.

Which schools are heavily involved?

“Michigan State, Purdue, Indiana, Notre Dame, Ohio State.”

Are any newer schools in the mix?

“DePaul, Xavier, Michigan, if I had to name a few.”

How was your visit to Michigan State, and what was your relationship with Coach Izzo?

“It was a great visit; I went around campus for the first time even though I had been there twice, and it was nice, like the layout. Also, it was good connecting with all the coaches and doing the photo shoot. I also got to watch a practice, which was cool too. My relationship with Coach [Izzo] is super strong right now. I love how he coaches and his knowledge of the game. He cares about his players and grooming them into high-level players.”

What about Purdue? Do you have thoughts on them and their pursuit of you?

“Purdue is attached to my last name; it's a great program with Coach Paint and coming off the national championship appearance, so obviously, there are some ties already there with my sisters being there, but no slight to them. Recruitment is open, but Purdue is a good place, and I like the program.”

Ohio State, thoughts on them and what Coach Diebler is building?

“Diebler is on fire right now with how he’s turning Ohio State around. I like what they're doing over there, and I loved campus when I went there. It’s a solid place.”

And as far as visits, where else will you visit?

“DePaul is the only one scheduled right now. Working on a few others as well.”

How would you best describe your game?

“I’m a versatile wing that can play the point, shoot the ball, rebound, and block shots at a high level.”

And how would you like to improve your game this season?

“Just getting stronger is the main part, as well as protecting my shot and release and getting my handle tighter.”
